Remembers MI soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan - Jun 26th, 2012 - State
Our flags in Michigan should be flying a half staff today/Tuesday. Governor Snyder asked that we lower them to honor 25-year-old Sgt. Joseph Lilly of Flint. Lilly died June 14 of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit. He was a combat engineer and had served in Iraq and was serving his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Also a 23-year-old Marine from Detroit, has been killed in Afghanistan. Private First Class Steven Stevens II, died last Friday while conducting combat operations. He went to Afghanistan on March 21, which was about a week before his son was born. Stevens attending Cass Tech High School in Detroit.
