Heading to the water to cool off proves to be costly for some - Jun 20th, 2012 - State
Kalamazoo County authorities were called to a pool in Oshtemo Township Tuesday night. They received a call from the Concord Place Apartment complex after a 3-year-old was pulled from the pool and was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital.
An 18-year-old from the Detroit area, drowned while tubing on Woodland Lake in Newaygo County. He was being towed on an inner tube behind a jet ski when he fell off. His life jacket came off and he failed to surface. A dive team found the body around 6 p.m.
Earlier in the afternoon Police in St. Joseph say an unidentified man drowned at Silver Beach. The man jumped from the pier and then yelled for help. A dive team located him in about 7 feet of water. Police are trying to identify the man.
