Local Air Force Sgt. killed in Germany - May 17th, 2012 - Local
A West Michigan Air Force mechanic was killed in an accident during his last week overseas. Air Force Staff Sgt. Joseph Weems was to return next Monday ending his 6 years of military service. 24-year-old Weems graduated from Byron Center High school and died Monday after being hit by a train while biking near Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center and a service will take place at Cornerstone Church.
