Elections to be held in 70 Michigan counties Tuesday - May 7th, 2012 - State
Communities and school districts in 70 counties will be holding local elections on Tuesday.
Voters can see on the state government website (michigan.gov/elections) if there is an election in their community, or check with their county clerk.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson says the election is a "chance to be heard" on issues that affect local school districts, cities, and community colleges.
Voters will be asked to provide a driver's license or photo identification card when they go to vote. If they don't have one or forget to bring it, they can sign a brief affidavit attesting to their identity.
The Michigan Information Center at michigan.gov/vote, can tell residents if they are registered and where to vote.
