You may have to wait to send your child to kindergarten - May 4th, 2012 - State

The Michigan Senate has passed legislation that would move up the date by which a child needs to turn 5 in order to enter kindergarten. The bills that were passed Thursday, would move the date up by one month each of the next 3 years so children would have to be 5 years old as of September 1st in order to enroll in kindergarten. Current law allows children to enter kindergarten if they are 5 by December 1st.
