Dec 18th, 2012 - Sports News

UNDATED (AP) — First came Bob Knight, then Mike Krzyzewski, (shuh-SHEHF'-skee) and finally, Jim Boeheim (BAY'-heim).

Third-ranked Syracuse escaped with a 72-68 home win over Detroit to make Boeheim the third Division I men's basketball coach with 900 career wins. Boeheim was presented a jersey encased in glass with 900 emblazoned on it, 36 years after coaching his first game at the school.

James Southerland had 22 points as the 10-0 Orange extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 30 games. Michael Carter-Williams added 12 points and 10 assists for his sixth straight double-double.

Also in top-25 play, Jabari Brown scored 12 points in his first game in 13 months as 12th-ranked Missouri clobbered South Carolina State 102-51. An 18-2 run midway through the first half gave the Tigers a 31-11 lead with 5:58 left.

Anthony Marshall scored 13 points and Bryce DeJean-Jones added 12 for No. 21 UNLV in a 62-60 victory over UTEP. Katin Reinhardt scored 10 points for the 9-1 Rebels, who had a 17-2 run in the first half and still led by as many as 15 points in the second half.

Notre Dame beat a state rival, 74-62 win over IPFW. Pat Connaughton had 18 points, six rebounds and five assists for the 22nd-ranked Irish, who improved to 10-1.
