Election Day is here and polls will be open until 8 p.m.

Nov 6th, 2012 - National News

CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama is back in Illinois to await results, telling voters at his final rally in Iowa the election is in their hands now. With the race still a virtual dead heat, Republican Mitt Romney isn't quite done yet.

A last-minute Election Day push will take him to Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's years long quest for the presidency is ending with a last-minute round of campaigning in one state he's showered with attention and another he's largely ignored.

After voting near his Boston-area home, Romney visits airports in Cleveland and Pittsburgh today, betting an 11th-hour appeal to working-class voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania will help him defeat President Barack Obama.

His running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, is following a similar strategy, using his travel time after voting in his Wisconsin hometown to join Romney in Cleveland and then visit Richmond, Va. The campaign isn't ruling out additional swing-state appearances as well. Later, Ryan will await returns with Romney in Boston.

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire villages of Dixville Notch and Hart's Location have maintained their tradition of heading to the polls at midnight on Election Day.

In Dixville Notch, the vote is 5 votes apiece for President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

In Hart's Location, it took voters 5 minutes and 42 seconds to cast 23 votes for Obama, 9 for Romney and 2 votes for Libertarian Gary Johnson.
