8.28.14:  Police identify pedestrian hit, killed by minivan


NORTON SHORES, Mich. (AP) — Police in Norton Shores have released the name of a Muskegon man who was struck and killed by a minivan.


Albert White III was hit around 1 a.m. Wednesday while trying to cross an intersection in the community in western Michigan.


Police say he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.


The minivan’s 63-year-old driver told police he had a green light. When he saw the pedestrian, he says he tried to stop, but couldn’t.


Police are seeking witnesses to the crash for their investigation.
