Swets Super Secret Swedish Spritz - Cookie Contest 2002 Winner
Congratulations Mary Jo on your prize winning holiday goodies.
1 c butter
3/4 c sugar
1 t almond extract
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 t baking powder
Cream butter, gradually add sugar, add egg unbeaten, add almond, and mix together. In separate bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add dry mixture to buter mixture. Mix well.
Put mixture into a cookie press and use a small or large star disk. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
Bake 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees (check at 6 min). Cool on wire racks. Yields 2 dozen large stars or 4 dozen small stars.
TIPS: Do not use a non-stick cookie sheet. It tends to burn the bottom of cookies. Use only real butter and real almond extract for best taste.
