Figgy Pudding

"Now bring us some figgy pudding, now bring us some figgy pudding, now bring us some figgy pudding, and bring it here NOW!" Enough said.


2 eggs
1/2 c. butter, at room temperature
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. maple syrup
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. chopped figs
1/2 c. combined raisins and currants
1/2 orange, ground (with peel)
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
2 2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. mace


Preheat the oven to 325F. Beat the eggs and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and syrup. Add buttermilk, fruits, and nuts. Mix well. In another bowl, sift all dry ingredients together. Stir the dry mixture into the pudding. Bake in a greased 9-inch tube pan for 1 hour or until done.
