Christmas Fudge

My husband, David, loved "Christmas Fudge" (as he called it). It brought back childhood memories for him, and now special memories for me.

1-1/2 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 12 oz. package chocolate chips
1 7 oz. jar jet-puffed marshmallow creme
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Lightly grease 9x13 pan. Mix butter, sugar, and milk in large heavy saucepan. Bring to full, rolling boil on medium, stirring constantly. Continue boiling on medium for 5 minutes or until thermometer reaches 234F degrees. Remove from heat. Gradually stir in choc. chips until melted. Add marshmallow, vanilla, and nuts--mix well. Pour into pan and cool at room temperature. Cut into squares.
