7.9.14: Clean-up kits available for local tornado victims
Beginning Wed., July 9th, The American Red Cross will start handing out clean-up kits for those affected by Sunday night’s storm and tornado.
The kits will be available between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Kentwood Activities Center located on 48th Street SE and that is also the location for the Red Cross shelter. In order to get the kits, people must provide proof of residence. The kits include mops, scrub brushes, shovels, cleaning chemicals and more. Tarps are also available.
The shelter will remain open for as long as necessary and will provide food and water and a place to stay.
Those in Kentwood can drop off debris at Kelloggswood Park.
Those in Wyoming can use the Yard Waste Drop-off on Burlingame. Also for the next 2 weeks, Wyoming crews will be picking up brush curbside in neighborhoods bordered by Clay, 56th, and Division.
